Macpower Introduces SMS Messaging with its Digital Signage Solutions

June 16, 2008 - Taipei, Taiwan – Macpower industry leading manufacturer of digital signage, multimedia players, and external storage enclosures, today introduces an exciting new feature in it's already very popular digital signage line. Via SMS messaging from their cell phone, end users can automatically receive additional product/service information or promotional free give-away instructions, simply by dialing the number provided in the broadcasted ad.

Companies can play ads and provide a contact number for viewers to send an SMS message to. Depending on the purpose of the ad, companies are then able to interact with their target audience by sending an automatic message response providing further information to the customer.

"So often, advertisers find it difficult to measure the effectiveness of their ads", Tommy Chen, Macpower President, explains, "However with this two-way communication between advertisers and viewers, companies have a more accurate indicator of how their ad campaign is reaching a particular target audience."

Mobile phones are on the increase among teenagers and adults, and SMS messaging as well, because of its cost effectiveness. Sending text messages is a convenient way to communicate because it is not necessary to talk to a live person, plus messages can be retrieved and replied to at the user's convenience. Messages also can attach media files, meaning advertisers can send detailed pictures of their products, video clips or even song samples directly to the customer.

"Allowing end users to use their cell phones to interact with ads takes digital signage in to brand new territory," Tommy Chen continued. "Now advertisers can follow up with customers by providing them more of what they are interested in."

Currently in Taiwan, Macpower has launched a pilot run stage of this SMS messaging service with a local telecommunication provider. Advertisers can send a text message to the provided number and retrieve an automatic response from the phone company.
